Sending Us an AI-Generated Design? Here’s What Happens Next
More and more enquiries now come with an AI-generated image attached — a quick mockup of what a wrap “could” look like. We love that customers arrive with a clear idea of the direction they want, and it’s a genuinely useful starting point. But it’s worth explaining what actually happens to that image once it reaches our design team, and why it isn’t quite the same as supplying us with your logo and brand assets directly.
An AI Image Is a Picture, Not a Design File
An AI-generated concept is a flat image — pixels, not the layered, editable, print-ready artwork a wrap actually needs. Logos inside an AI image are usually distorted approximations rather than your real logo, text is often subtly wrong or unreadable close up, and none of it can simply be “lifted” and printed at full vehicle size without falling apart.
That doesn’t make it useless — far from it. As a reference for layout, colour direction and overall style, it’s a great briefing tool. But turning it into something we can actually print means our design team has to rebuild it properly from scratch.
Recreating a Design vs Being Supplied the Elements
There’s an important difference between these two situations, and it’s one that affects cost:
- You supply the real elements — your actual logo (ideally vector format), brand colours, and any photography or imagery you own the rights to. Our team builds the design directly from these. This is covered by our standard free design service.
- You supply only an AI-generated image — our team has to recreate every element seen in it from scratch: redrawing logo-like marks as genuine vector artwork, matching fonts, and sourcing or recreating any imagery used. This is real design and production work, and depending on the complexity of what needs recreating, it may incur an additional charge.
The reason is simple: sourcing and rebuilding elements that don’t technically exist yet — a clean vector version of a logo, a specific font, a piece of imagery — takes real time and skill, separate from the design layout work itself. It’s not a charge for using AI as inspiration; it’s a reflection of the extra recreation work involved when that’s all we have to work from.
Getting the Best Result — For Free
If you’ve used an AI tool to explore ideas, that’s genuinely helpful — send it over. But to keep your design covered under our free design service, it helps to also supply:
- Your actual logo, ideally as a vector file (AI, EPS, SVG or a high-resolution PNG)
- Your brand colours, if you have them
- Any photography or imagery you own or have the rights to use
With those in hand, our design team can use your AI concept purely as visual direction and build the real thing around your actual brand assets — no recreation work required, and no additional cost.
